A Personal Message
Gordon was a tremendously hard-working family man, and everything he pursued was with their best interests at heart. He worked as a Program Manager at Cole Carbide Industries for 36 years and had a side business, Royal Lawn & Sprinklers, with close family friends. In 1981, he married his life-long love, Tina, and the two of them raised two children, Samantha and Gordon. Gordon was a fun-loving, goofy, happy spirit to be in the presence of. He enjoyed taking on projects like home renovations, carpentry and gardening and was never without a task to do around the house. Working with his hands was an innate talent and he was consistently eager to share his skill set and knowledge to assist anyone in tackling a project of their own. He was very generous and dedicated to his entire family and friends; their needs always preceded his own. He enjoyed nature, bonfires, backyard barbecues, and sharing his terrible (yet goofy and funny) jokes with everyone to make them smile. Gordon lived in the same residence in Madison Heights for 34 years, where he was a true rock in the community.
My father touched many souls in his short time here and is deeply and profoundly missed by all of them. We went on family hiking/camping trips every year, and he looked forward to that time the entire year leading up to the trip. I can’t think of a better way to honor his presence here on Earth than planting a tree in his honor. He was the centre and rock of our family, constantly on the go and never without a joke. My dad taught me to be hardworking, determined, stubborn, caring, helpful to anyone in need, strong and goofy. These are traits I will continue to carry throughout my life in his honor. Everyone LOVED him, he had an amazingly large heart and truly loved everyone he knew. We will always remember and love him and I know he is still with us, only in a different way.
