About Ronald Arthur

Ron was born to Rosanna Florence Ball and William Sidney Harding in 1929 and had a big sister Joan born in 1928 so they were very close.

Ron was always interested in Football played the game in his younger years and a season ticket holder and follower of Chelsea Football Club.

Ron was a family man married to Rita Brookes in May 1952 and they stayed together having three children Sharyn, Michael and Russell.

He had a lovely sense of humour and was always playing jokes on us all. My favourite when we were growing up was getting us to wrap up old slippers at Christmas  then bring out the new ones.

He was a great card player and could beat most people at Rummy but was absolutely useless at DIY.

He was trained as a Butcher like his father William but after his national service he hated the idea of being confined to a shop so he went to work for British Oxygen Company at North Wembley delivering much needed Oxygen to hospitals amongst other places getting his long service award. He and Rita set up a small transport company and his sparkling friendly can-do personality and Rita’s administration skills they were a great team.

Ronald Arthur's Accomplishments

So a big thank you Pop as without you we would not even be here and have such Happy Memories. Thank You

A Personal Message

In September 2019 he was 90 years old and we had a lovely party to celebrate with Rita, Sharyn & John , Michael, Hilary, Russell & Jo, his grandchildren Chris & Emily, Naomi & Jon, Scott & Abigail, Ryan & Hayley , Andrew & Anita, his great grandchildren Drew,Eva,Blake,Finley,Jacob,Ruby also there was his niece Lorraine and her sister Karen.

This is the last happy occasion most of the family shared with Ron and was indeed a very special day for us all. We all miss him terribly but do remember the happy times.

He was diagnosed with Covid the same day as Boris Johnston but only admitted to hospital for falling over and he caught Covid there, it was a horrible and lonely way to go but we all try to stay positive. Rita is especially lonely now as she was never apart from Ron for more than a few days ever.
