Brian was a highways engineer, but he was primarily a pioneer in computing who was fascinated with maths and technology all of his life. Well into his 80s, he stayed way ahead of the game with all his handheld gadgets and devices (we video-called at his invitation most days all the time he was shielding). He engineered everything in his own home and was an avid and expert gardener, too. An insatiably enquiring mind! Given the chance, he would even have jumped at the opportunity to trial the vaccine, but was tragically let down, left waiting and then infected in hospital in early January.
