Peter John Quince

He joined the Army in 1949 and enlisted into the Grenadier Guards and was based at Chelsea Barracks. He served time in Germany at the army’s dog training school where he fell in love with German Shepherds. My dad wed my mum in 1954 and went on to have 3 children and lived on Hillgrounds Caravan Park. After leaving the Army dad set up his own caravan haulage firm, transporting caravans all around the country and abroad. We moved to Abbott’s crescent, Kempston and it was still dads home until he passed away. Dad went on to work for London Brick Company then Canvins International up until he gave up work in 2003 when he retired for the final time. Dad looked after mum whilst she had cancer and devoted his time to his first love June. After mums passing away, he adjusted to life on his own, still driving a car until he had to exchange it for a mobility scooter, it gave him freedom and independence. The family was important to him especially with his great great grandchildren who kept him young at heart.   The family all have their own memories of dad, mine is remembering him pottering around in his greenhouse, his love of the sunny weather. His love of sausage rolls at any party, always enquired was there going to be any? Most of all missing his presence. He will be missed by my family, his grandchildren, and his great great grandchildren who was “Grandpa” x
