About Morris
My father grew up in Singapore but came with his entire extended family to London in the 1960s to open the first Singapore restaurant in England where he worked as a chef and business partner with his mother and aunt. He was a happy and generous man, always helping others and always laughing! Even in retirement, he offered his services to cook his famous Hainanese Chicken Rice for 300 people at his church on Sundays. Everyone knew him fondly as Uncle Morris. His interests included Tai Chi, collecting antiques and, of course, food.

Morris's Accomplishments
When a seed falls into the ground and dies it brings forth life. And like this tree, it is my hope is that my father has planted a legacy that will live on forever!
A Personal Message
Morris Tan was survived by his wife, five sons, daughter, 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. We missed saying goodbye to him physically as the Covid environment took him too quickly in his care home where we couldn’t visit. I am blessed to have had a final video call with him just before he passed and feel well-loved, and miss him very much.
I am grateful to my father for instilling in me a sense of self-worth, strong family values and a love for cooking and eating healthy and delicious food!
