Dad was born in Greenock the youngest of 13, his dad died when he was 11, so the family was important to him, he was before retirement a pipefitter/instrument fitter in the oil industry. He was also an activist with the Labour Party and was recognised for it by the party. He was also a trade unionist and was always looking out for his fellow workers.

My dad, like every daughter, her hero, I’ll miss his calm, quiet manner, his Scottish accent so much. Mum is lost without him, my sons Ashley and Greg have lost the gramps who would encourage them in everything they did. My husband misses his daily chats with dad and the fun of taking the Mickey out of me and mum nagging him to Greg. Most of all a big part of our family is now gone. We are all heartbroken.
