About Margaret Gladys

I adored my mother. We were very different people and she did not always agree with the things that I did but she always supported me. In more recent years, we became very very close. I find her loss so difficult to bear.

A Personal Message

My beloved mother was born in Coleford, Gloucestershire, the only child of Harry Lewis ( Bert) Morgan and Gladys Morgan. She married Allan Weager in August 1954 and devoted her life to bringing up myself and my brother John, and caring for her husband and parents. She loved all things connected to nature, gardening, poetry, classical music and her beloved dogs. Strong and determined, she did not waste time on frivolities but focused on the things that really mattered. Having lost her hearing permanently in one ear as a child, she was ineligible for active service during World War 2, and so worked in the offices at Gloucester aircraft factory. Her parents took in two evacuees, Barbara and Michael; they were only going to have one child but Barbara would not leave her brother and so they had two; it must have been a squish in their small council house. Later she worked for Carters in Coleford and then had spells in London and Bristol when Carters were taken over by Beechams and Maclean’s. She met Allan at Carters. Such a clever man! Once married. Allan began working for Lord Bledisloe at Lydney Park Estate; later Cooke and Arkwright in Bridgend and finally Strutt and Parker in Salisbury. During all that time, my mother supported Allan in his career moves even though relocating caused her much sadness, and she worked her socks off maintaining her home and caring for her family. She was always busy; she never stopped.
