About John
My dad was born in Gloucester and left an apprenticeship to join up in the Second World War. During his training in Swansea, he met my mother Joan who he married in 1947. He was stationed out in the middle east and sent home Egyptian silk for my mother’s wedding dress. They lived in Swansea and had 3 children. Dad became a mechanical engineer for the council and worked there until he retired. He loved gardening and cooking and ballroom dancing with my mum. They were married for 67 years when she died.

John's Accomplishments
Dad loved his 2 grandsons and 4 great-grandchildren particularly Mili who visited him every week. He used to love his little’ tea parties’ with her. Dad died on his wife’s birthday and my grandson said ‘how lovely nanna wanted him to go to her birthday party in heaven’. Such a lovely thing to say.
We all miss him terribly as none of us was able to see him in the five weeks before he died in the first wave of covid.
A Personal Message
He was a lovely man who would do anything for anybody. He was very proud of his garden and had a wonderful display of tulips every year. He used to spend hours in the garden even up until he was 95. He was fiercely independent and only gave in to persuasion to move in with us just 3 months before he died. Dad used to love to banter with my husband and enjoyed watching football on TV.
