Martha had a brain haemorrhage in the womb at approximately 12 weeks leaving damage that meant she was expected to be severely disabled. Amazingly, her brain re-wired itself and all functions normally done in the left hemisphere were taken over by the right. She was born with only moderate hemiplegia and moderate learning problems. She became a determined, funny, kind and very caring young woman, but continued to have her own medical problems. She could not work but had wanted to be an actress. She had a vast collection of film and TV programmes on DVD. Her late father had played a really important part of her life. She adored her niece and nephew from the moment of their birth and loved being able to be a part of her Sister’s family too. Martha loved to travel, her favourite country was Mallorca and she took great interest in any new place.
Martha was my youngest daughter and my life, as I had cared for her throughout her life. She was an inspiration as she coped with so many problems in her life.. Her elder sister is devastated by her sudden death from Covid and the whole family misses her laugh, her insightful asides, her humour, and great kindness and thoughtfulness for others. I am so very proud of her.
